Ever hear the old saying "Still waters run deep?" If you ever get the chance to sit and talk with Paul Overstreet, you’ll know what they meant! As we sat and chatted about kids, dogs, and life back in Mississippi, it was hard to believe I was talking to a Grammy winner! Two of them! For "Forever & Ever Amen" in 1988, and "Love Can Build a Bridge" in 1992. It’s also hard to believe that so many people don’t know about Paul Overstreet. Maybe a few of these song titles will jog your memory… "Seein’ My Father in Me", "Love Helps Those", "Won’t Take Less Than Your Love", "On the Other Hand", "Diggin’ Up Bones", "Daddy’s Come Around", "Deeper Than The Holler", and many others!

Paul has the gift of a great storyteller. He can take the simplest things in life and make you see that they are also the greatest things in life. A few examples of this are, "Mr. Miller", and "Blackberry Cobbler", on his TIME album. It’s easy to see he writes about things that he believes in, like love, marriage, kids, parents, and the love of life in general. His songs tell stories about people living their lives day to day, who are working hard at trying to put their priorities in order, just like him, and the rest of us! Paul says, "I’m not jaded, and I don’t ever want to be. When I hear certain songs, I still get a lump in my throat. I don’t even think that I write a lot, because I do so many other things. Singing, performing, and recording are things that are in me … that I enjoy. They balance me."

Paul has found success not only in Country Music, but also in Gospel. He’s won several Dove Awards, and CCMA awards. I don’t have room to list them all! Trust me, he’s great!!

"Summer Lights", Nashville’s annual salute to the arts, were dimmed by the dark rain clouds. Fan Fair ’97 promises to be more fun, with such acts as Brooks & Dunn, Deana Carter, LeAnn Rimes, Tim McGraw, Joe Diffie & Bryan White.

Things sure have been cooking around here! With folks like Paul Overstreet stopping by, seems like I’m frying chicken non-stop! At least when I’m listening to good music the time flies by faster! I think Paul has something magic up his sleeve that puts more hours in the day! He must have to find the time to finish his great new album "TIME"!

With everything he’s into, I just don’t know how else he could do it all! Paul is married, has 5 kids, coaches little league, rides horses, sings, writes, runs his publishing company, travels around the country entertaining, and still donated his time to play in charity events like We Care About Kids Golf Tournament, that Carl Perkins and Doug Supernaw co-hosted, in Jackson, TN.

Paul says "you can always find time to help out the kids!" No wonder he wears a white hat!
